DIPLO

So we've decided what to do for New Years, and we're going to see DIPLO!! I suspect that every hipster in the Bay Area will be there as their mothers, but who cares?

Not I said the sparrow. Not I said the cockerel. And not fucking I, said me.

I just finished watching the first two seasons of Skins, a British teen drama. It was great! Mad sex, drugs, and party scenes. What's not to love? Anyways, my language and morals may be less clean for a while as I remember that real life is not like t.v.

I thought I'd compile my favorite Diplo songs here:

and not diplo related, but one of my very favorite mashups:

Red bean buns

Back home in the BAY!!! I haven't updated in a while first because I had finals and second because I was done with finals and couldn't be bothered with anything that included thinking. But now I'm healed.

Unforch, I left my webcam and my USB cords and loading dock for my camera at school. So until I can dig up my old camera there will be no photos. I know you're sobbing, but don't worry, it'll be okay.

In the meantime, I'm catching up on music and shopping a little and living the frigid california life. whoo!!

Japanese-y mix:
Kahimie Kari - Dis Moi Quel Que Chose Avant
M-Flo - Loop in my heart (homegrown remix)
Fantastic Plastic Machine - A River Dry
Mickey Avalon - my dick (not japnese but a classic nonetheless)
Maki Nomiya - Nicola
Rip Slyme - Super Shooter

Do me again Hedi Slimane

The question is: am I in love with his tats, his body, or his underwear?

I dunno.

Thanks Hedi!

Shoezilla

Remember L.A. Gear shoes? The ones that would light up with every step? I thought those were the illest shoes EVA and we begged our parents to get us a pair. They gave in eventually and we wore them until the batteries gave out and then they were just ugly shoes.

To clarify, I am not a sneaker head. I don't collect air force ones and I don't drool over vintage adidas and put them on display (though I would not say no to a pair of Pierre Hardy sneaks). Anyways, I want these:

They're dinosaur shoes!!!!!!! that light up!!!!!!!!! OM-EFFING-G!!!!!!!!! They are for little kids, but come on, you have to appreciate their sheer awesome factor. I bet I can squeeze my feet into these...and only $18 from $25. Sweeeeet

I coulda been a contenda

My thoughts on why I should have been a rap star/dj

Rap star:
- my name is a fucking rhyme
- I talk real real fast
- I also talk a lot
- I was born in the south
- I now live in Cali
- I love BIG FAT DARK bass beats

DJ:
- my name is so ironic. like so ironic.
- I change songs on winamp (yeah I use winamp) like every 30 seconds
- I like old school things (like winamp)
- I love FARTY BLOBBY HUGE bass beats

however, I neither spit nor do I spin. If you want to teach me either or both, please contact me. It would really make me too cool to bear.

Cake in a cup

I go to school in the remotest of remotest regions. Target is 30 minutes away. The closest mall is an hour away. This means I spend a LOT of time online shopping. And online shopping for me means a LOT of deliberation. I carefully craft outfits in my head (and oh what a safe place that is) and pick and choose pieces that will give me the most bang for my buck. And I have decided what that piece is this year: a sequined blazer.  This one in fact:

I'm picturing it with a grey sweater, some nutty beanie, Balenciaga-esque jodphurs and staggeringly high boots. or with jeans and a white button down and heels. Or with black hoodie and drop-crotch pants ...eee can't wait!

THE MUCH REQUESTED CAKE IN A CUP RECIPE:
- one box o' brownie/cake/some chocolate thing mix (the kind that come in boxes)
- water
- mug
- microwave

1. Take a cup/half cup/however much you want of the brownie mix.
2. add water. Enough to make it pretty liquidy. More liquidy than cake batter, less than just water. Like the perfect cup of hot chocolate.
3. pop in microwave for 30 sec to 1 min (depending on the strength of your microwave. we have a weak sauce excuse for a nuker so I leave it in for 1:15)

will post pictures later.

V

A spread too scandalous for even Vogue Italia. I knew I had to have it and plaster it all over my wall then. The subject is dogging, having sex in public places. Some of these are freaking NSFW with very very high creep factor.

2nd break in...1 hour. Fuggit.  I'd much rather consider the Vogue Nippon covers of 2008 as an october post in the fashionspot did over cytogenetics.

Besides the little issue of text placement (what is with the G taking up the girls' foreheads?) love the models! it's too bad american vogue can't really do this. I know they have to cater to all those readers who'd rather see somebody recognizable like a celebrity, but still....ew. Vogue Nippon got all my favs! They apparently like Raquel a lot...put her on twice! but some oldies and goodies (kate, stella, daria, christy, angela) and some of the current blue chip girls (lily, raquel, snejana, freja, sasha, nataliya, sasha). Keep up the good work ADR.

Shoes...........(betch - I can't help it; it's fucking programmed)

I crave all things Alaia. Like THESE BABIES.

This is a case of my feet being bigger than my bank account, and t'will be many a year before I can get my grubby hands on and my grubby feet into these, so in the meantime...

We have 48 days left til President Obama takes the White House!!! and of course everybody's gaga over what Michelle will wear at the inaugural ball. Here are some of my favorite sketches from the WWD article asking 36 designers what they'd design for her...
Carolina Herrera
Chado Ralph Rucci
Such a cool sketch...

Christian Lacroix

She'll probably (and should anyways) go with an American designer Will it be a bigger red-carpet-esque name like Michael Kors or Marchesa? Or her favs Thakoon or Mario Pinto? EEE I can't wait!!

Hem hem: A poem about finals

Humpday

Definitely a slouchy humpday outfit. I know the whole neon thing is over and done for, but I LOIKE IT.

wearing: acne jeans, aa shirt (shredded in the back a la camille a la Raquel Allegra), old navy cardigan, hm scarf, toms shoes

English Muffin

Whatever happened to Devon Aoki? I really liked her as a model. Her imminent movie career was imminently not as good, but I'd be happy to see her back in editorials.

Naan

A couple weeks ago, my friend at school and I went to visit my other friend who was part of organizing Project East held at Harvard. It was muddy and fun and we got snapped by a Bostonian style blogger. Her blog is here

Ignore the hideous posing please! What I was wearing: thrifted boys blue oxford shirt, hanky panky mini-jacket thing, aa skirt, borrowed shoes. After the show, I changed into a white J.Crew v-neck tee and went barelegged in my awesome alexandre herchovitch for melissa oxfords to go club the night away.

Eggs

All these rumors that Carine Roitfeld is taking over Her Wintourness are flying. I never really warmed to her icyness but I definitely respect her. Carine in charge though, would hopefully ensure that Vogue's covers improve. INFINITELY. And would she bring over the whole gang? Emmanuelle? Melanie? please please please????????

Coffee

Hey, it's been a while. Aw baby don't be like that. It's not like I wasn't gonna come back. I just had to find myself, you know? But I'm baaack!

I've decided to restart my blog (just in time for finals). I'm going in a different direction though...I'll still put up music. And talk about my feelings. But now you can see how a california girl dresses for the fucking cold new england weather.

This is a wall.

This is my bed. I don't think I have to clarify this, but this IS WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS.

This is a poster (yo kinz I copied you!) of David Hockney's Pearblossom Hwy. In the middle of winter I want to sit in front of this poster, with a bottle of vodka in one hand and a key lime pie in the other and make like I'm Hunter S. Thompson.

wearing: thrifted jordache faux fur, topshop sheeny skinnies, aa tee, balmain-ripoffs boots
